Where are you located?

Unfortunately, there was a fire in the building where our retail store was located and it spread into our store. We no longer have a physical location, but your orders can still be locally picked up at 3354 Route 130 Harrison City, PA 15636. If you are familiar with the area, this is at the red light near Penn Trafford high school. We are inside Hair Creations salon.

Why soy?

Our candles are made using 100% soy wax derived from the soybean plant. Wax from soybeans is biodegradable, non-toxic, and renewable. Our 100% soy candles burn cleaner, cooler, longer, and more evenly. Soy candles produce far less soot than petroleum-based paraffin candles. Breathing the toxic soot produced by paraffin candles can lead to harmful health effects and can even discolor walls and furniture. Continental Wax Works is proud to use American grown soybean wax that supports American farmers!

Are your candles really made with 100% soy wax?

Yes! Unlike some companies that say they are producing “soy candles” we do not blend our soy wax with paraffin or other harmful additives. When you purchase a candle from Continental Wax Works, you can rest assured that our wax is completely natural.

Is your soy wax kosher, vegan, etc?

Our goal is to provide not only the most enjoyable candles on the market, but we also want to provide a product that you can enjoy with peace of mind. Our soy wax is all natural, vegan (no animal testing), kosher, and FDA approved. We wouldn’t settle for less!

What types of fragrance oils do you use in your candles?

Consistent with our commitment to quality, we use only the finest fragrance oils available. All of our fragrance oils are comprised of natural oils, essential oils, or synthetic oils meeting IFRA standards for safety and quality.

Do your wicks contain metal?

Unlike our competitors, our wicks do not contain harmful metals such as lead, zinc, or copper. All of our wicks are comprised entirely of cotton and other natural fibers. Cotton wicks help to ensure a clean, cool burn.

Do I need to trim the wick?

You should always trim the wick to 1/4" before you light your candle each time. When not properly trimmed, the wicks of all candles can "mushroom", causing excessive flickering and/or smoke. Keeping your wick trimmed keeps this to a minimum and also makes your candle safer. Trimming also prevents your wick from curling back into the wax - a common problem with non-metal cored wicks.

Do soy candles smell as good as the “big name” paraffin candles?

Absolutely! Soy wax can actually accommodate more fragrance oil by weight than other waxes such as paraffin or paraffin/soy blends. This means Continental Wax Works’ candles smell even stronger than the competition.

Where should I burn my candle?

It is best to burn candles on a stable, protected, hard surface away from drafts and materials that could catch fire. Always keep you candles out of the reach of children and pets. Do not move a candle while it is burning or if the wax is hot. Never leave a burning candle unattended!

How do I clean up the wax if I spill my candle?

Because we use natural soy wax, it cleans easily with mild soap and hot water.

Can I recycle my candle jar?

Absolutely! All of our glass containers are American made and perfect for recycling. Once you are done with your candle, simply clean it out with soap and warm water. Additionally, if you return your jars to our retail store in North Huntingdon, Pennsylvania, we will give you $1 off of your next purchase for every Continental Wax Works jar you return. You don’t even need to clean them first!

Can I use a candle warmer or lamp with your candles?

Sure. However, our candles are specially formulated for maximum fragrance throw with our natural wicks. We can’t guarantee you will get the same fragrance experience when using a candle warmer or lamp. We recommend you check out our 100% soy wax melts for use in an electric warmer or tealight warmer.

Are your burn times accurate?

Burn times can vary based on location and conditions. We recommend that you burn your candles for no longer than 4 hours at a time to achieve the maximum burn time over the life of the candle. Additionally, the first time you light your candle, be sure to burn it long enough to achieve a complete melt pool on the top of the candle. In other words, don’t blow the candle out until the wax is completely melted across the top of the candle. This also helps to eliminate the chance of your candle “tunneling.”

Do you make pillar candles or votives?

A 100% soy candle cannot be made into a pillar or votive because the wax is too soft. Any company selling soy pillar candles or votives is likely using a soy/paraffin blend or adding another harmful additive to harden their wax.

Why is my candle discolored?

Since our soy wax is 100% natural and we don't add any harmful additives, there is a chance that there can be slight variations in color or texture of the wax. This is a perfectly normal occurrence for 100% soy candles and it will not affect the way your candle smells in any way.

When will my order be shipped?

We aim for next day shipping. Due to high order volumes, we regretfully cannot always accomplish this. In any case, your order will usually be shipped within 2-3 business days
